Epiq and Canopy Expand AI Data Mining for Law Firms
Epiq and Canopy Software have expanded their partnership to better serve clients with AI-powered data mining software that locates personally identifiable information (PII) and reviews data up to 60 per cent faster than other industry best-in-class tools, reducing case time and costs.
Eqiq and Canopy first partnered in 2021. This expansion extends Epiq’s Canopy-driven data mining solution beyond the US to now include the UK and APAC for even the most complicated cases. Epiq will support this expansion with managed services for data breach response, empowering in-house teams with fast insights into compromised data. The Epiq Cyber Incident Response (CIR) team is fully dedicated to supporting cyber incident response events and has spent years developing strategies and workflows, becoming one of the most experienced providers in the CIR space.
“The number and severity of data breaches continue to rise, which has brought significant costs to businesses across the globe,” said Brandon Hollinder, Epiq’s Vice President of eDiscovery and Cyber Solutions. “Epiq is the leading provider delivering dedicated post-forensics end-to-end cyber incident response data mining, review, notification, and credit monitoring services, entirely in-house. Our advancements and investments in AI help us quickly gain control so that we can provide a scalable, complete solution, often saving our clients millions of dollars.”
Since its founding six years ago, Canopy has firmly established itself as a leader in the data breach response technology market. Canopy’s patented Data Breach Response software and data mining-specific workflows empower incident response teams to deliver fast, accurate, and cost-effective project resolutions.
“When data breaches first became commonplace, purpose-built software didn’t exist yet, so cyber experts borrowed tools and methodologies from the closest adjacent markets: eDiscovery and forensics,” said Adi Elliott, Canopy’s Chief Operating Officer. “Together, Epiq and Canopy are using AI to transform this approach, streamlining the process of finding PII and connecting it to people. Now incident response teams can complete projects much faster at a fraction of the cost.”
The global average cost of a data breach in 2024 was $4.88 million, which is a 10 per cent increase over 2023 and the highest total ever, according to a recent IBM report. Organisations that applied AI and automation to security prevention saw the biggest impact in reducing the cost of a breach, saving an average of $2.22 million compared to organisations that didn’t deploy these technologies.
